The most popular and comprehensive media first aid training in Kenya course we will be running is our First Aid on Remote Locations course. This course is designed for those working away from immediate medical assistance, which would be many media workers in Kenya. Each year for every 100 000 people in Kenya, 27.8 are reported by the WHO as suffering a road-related death. As medical help can often be remote, this course is designed to give you the confidence to assist a colleague injured or taken ill and get them professional help. Most first aid courses expect help to come to them, we realise that this isn’t always possible.
This three-day course covers the following learning outcomes:

Perform, in a simulated setting, basic life support on an adult
Perform, in a simulated setting, basic life support on a child/infant
Demonstrate, in a simulated setting, use of a pocket mask
Demonstrate, in a simulated setting, management of choking
Place a casualty in the recovery position

State the management steps for a casualty who has fainted
Outline the management of a casualty who is convulsing
Demonstrate, in a simulated setting, use of direct pressure to control bleeding

Discuss recognition and management of common major illness.

Outline the importance of taking a history from the patient
Discuss the importance of gathering information on the mechanism of injury

Demonstrate treatment of a minor wound such as a laceration using equipment from the first aid kit.
Discuss simple treatment of common travel-related aliments such as travellers diarrhoea using items from issued first aid kits

Discuss simple first aid treatments of bites and stings likely to be encountered
Demonstrate maintenance of simple records of treatment given.
From our training venue south of Nairobi we will also be running another popular media first aid training in Kenya, called First Aid on Locations. This two-day course covers much of the First Aid on Remote Locations content but is based on medical help arriving at the scene of the emergency.
Both of these media first aid training in Kenya courses are being run at our training venue south of Nairobi. This venue provides a great base for the training, with plenty of space for our scenarios plus good food and somewhere to rest in the evenings.
Our training focuses on the practical application of simple first aid skills, the knowledge being shared and tested via practical, realistic scenarios in which you will be able to overcome the fear and uncertainty that exists and build your skills and confidence in a safe learning environment.
