Quality Assurance Policy

1. Purpose

Lazarus Training is committed to delivering high-quality, responsive education and training that meets the needs of learners, client organisations, and awarding bodies. This policy sets out our approach to ensuring consistent standards in delivery, promoting the professional development of staff, maintaining alignment with external requirements, and driving continuous improvement through self-evaluation and stakeholder feedback.

2. Keeping Internal Processes Up to Date

To ensure alignment with awarding organisation requirements and sector best practice, Lazarus Training maintains robust procedures for reviewing and updating internal processes:

  • Awarding Organisation Updates

Updates from awarding organisations and regulatory bodies are monitored monthly. This includes reviewing published guidance, attending provider updates, and subscribing to relevant newsletters and bulletins.
  • Internal Communication

Any updates that affect training delivery, assessment, certification, or compliance are reviewed by the Training Director or Compliance Lead and disseminated through:
    • Weekly team-wide email updates
    • Monthly operational and compliance meetings
    • Revisions to staff handbooks and course documentation
  • Document Control and Process Reviews

All internal documentation—including schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment tools, and learner materials—is reviewed quarterly or sooner in response to critical external updates.

3. Continued Professional Development (CPD)

Lazarus Training places strong emphasis on developing the expertise and professionalism of its training staff. Our CPD policy ensures instructors remain current in both subject knowledge and delivery methods:

  • Minimum Annual Requirement

All instructors are required to complete a minimum of 18 hours of CPD each year.
  • Mandatory CPD Participation

Staff must attend at least two of the three CPD events hosted by Lazarus Training annually. One of these must include the CPD day from the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
  • Additional CPD Opportunities may include:
    • Attendance at external webinars, conferences, or courses
    • Shadowing and observing experienced trainers
    • Participating in internal scenario days and skills refreshers
    • Contributing to or attending peer review sessions and internal CPD workshops
  • CPD Record Keeping

All CPD activities are logged and reviewed annually as part of the staff appraisal process and quality assurance audit.

4. Standardisation of Training Delivery

Lazarus Training ensures consistent quality across all delivery and assessment through a structured standardisation framework:

  • Schemes of Work and Session Plans

All instructors use centrally developed and regularly reviewed documents aligned with awarding organisation requirements.
  • Approved Teaching Materials

Instructors use standardised resources and assessment materials to ensure consistent learner experience and fair assessment outcomes.
  • Internal Standardisation Meetings

    Held quarterly to:
    • Review delivery methods and assessment practices
    • Share best practices and update resources
    • Identify and action any required improvements
  • Mentoring and Shadowing

New or less experienced trainers shadow established instructors and gradually progress to independent delivery.
  • Annual Peer Observations

All trainers participate in peer observations to support reflective practice and individual development.

5. Monitoring and Customer Feedback

Feedback from learners and stakeholders is an essential part of our quality improvement cycle:

  • Feedback Collection
    • All learners complete structured end-of-course evaluations.
    • Forms capture both quantitative data and qualitative feedback on course content, instruction, and facilities.
  • Data Review and Analysis
    • Feedback is reviewed monthly by the Quality Lead.
    • Key themes are discussed at monthly operational meetings.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Learner feedback directly informs updates to course content, teaching methods, and support services.
    • High-performing instructors and courses are recognised internally, and best practice is shared.

6. Policy Review

This policy is reviewed annually or sooner if required by changes in regulatory frameworks, awarding organisation standards, or internal strategic priorities.
