As Ukraine continues its reconstruction and redevelopment efforts, staff deploying to the region face a range of safety and security risks. Our four-day Hostile Environment Training (HET) course is specifically designed for personnel working under reconstruction and redevelopment contracts, ensuring they are fully prepared for the challenges of operating in a dynamic and potentially hazardous environment.

This course is tailored for individuals working for large organisations, including engineering firms, NGOs, infrastructure specialists, and security contractors. It provides essential skills in personal security, situational awareness, emergency response, and MARCH first aid protocols.


Course Content

Day 1: Understanding the Environment & Emergency Response

  • Regional overview: current security landscape and threat assessment
  • Situational awareness and personal security measures
  • Travel security: vehicle safety, convoys, and route planning
  • Massive haemorrhage control – tourniquet application, wound packing, haemostatic dressings

Day 2: Conflict Zone Safety and First Aid Essentials

  • Identifying and avoiding threats such as unexploded ordnance (UXO) and mines
  • Dealing with checkpoints and interactions with armed personnel
  • Airway management – dealing with obstruction, recovery position, and airway adjuncts
  • Respiration and chest injuries – recognising and treating sucking chest wounds, use of chest seals

Day 3: Risk Management and Advanced First Aid

  • Managing civil unrest and protests
  • Kidnap and hostage survival awareness
  • Circulation – shock management, fluid resuscitation principles
  • Head injury and hypothermia – recognising concussion, managing environmental factors

Day 4: Scenario-Based Training and Emergency Response

  • Simulated hostile environment exercises
  • Responding to active shooter and artillery threats
  • Casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) and movement under fire
  • Psychological resilience and stress management techniques
